OkText Privacy Policy

What OkText does. OkText is a texting app for Android. It syncs the texts on a phone you own to your OkText account so that you, and AI assistants you connect to that account (such as ChatGPT or Claude), can read and sort them and, if you allow it, send texts from your number.

What leaves the phone, and only after you pair it with your account:

Why. Only to show you your texts, to let the assistants you connect read and send them for you, and to run the AI features you use. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it for ads or for training AI models.

Who receives it.

How long we keep it. Texts and their status stay in your account until you delete them or the account. Synced contacts stay until you turn contact sync off or unpair the phone. A log of which assistant used which tool, and when (no message content, no phone numbers), is kept for 90 days for security. Connection codes expire after 10 minutes.

Your controls. Disconnect any assistant in OkText → Settings; it loses access at once. By default, texts to numbers that are not in your contacts wait on the phone until you tap Send, and a daily limit caps how many texts the phone sends. Unpairing the phone deletes its contacts from the server, and you can ask us to delete your account and all messages at any time.

Where it goes. To the server you paired with (https://api.oktext.app), over HTTPS, into your account only. Each account is isolated; nobody else can read your messages through OkText.

Children. OkText is not directed to children under 13.

Self-hosting. The engine behind OkText is open source (AGPL-3.0). If you run your own server, your data never reaches us.
